How should an AI Agent identify the right seller, product or service?
Separate provider, location, item, variant and seller offering before searching or submitting a consumer review.

The short answer
Use stable identifiers and their issuing source. A name is a search hint, not a unique identity. Keep the provider, physical location, item or service, version or variant, and seller offering separate. Ask the consumer when a match is ambiguous.
Physical hotels and shops
Two branches can share a brand and a website. Reuse a known merchant_id only after checking the provider. When available, supply identity_source, provider_id and location_id with a public store_url. A city or street address helps a person disambiguate but does not independently verify the business.
Online sellers and physical goods
A marketplace listing belongs to a particular seller. Use the marketplace domain and seller/listing identifiers, or a public store/product URL. Do not treat all sellers of the same book or device as the same merchant. Product quality and seller service answer different questions.
Digital products and services
Keep software versions, plan tiers and service packages distinct when those details affect the experience. Supply item_kind and item_version where known. Do not infer a version or subscription plan from a brand name.
The Evident resolution workflow
Start with search_experiences to find existing published feedback. Use resolve_review_target when resolving an identity. Reuse its target and stable IDs; if it returns candidates or missing fields, ask the consumer. Identity matching is consumer-supplied grouping, not merchant ownership or transaction verification.
Before contributing
Run preflight_review with the consumer’s words, target, incentive disclosure and file metadata. Then obtain authorization, upload the selected receipt, prepare the draft and return its confirmation URL. The consumer checks the exact content before submission.
